As someone who's easily terrified by any creature I'm not familiar with, I have the utmost respect for those more adventurous people out there who make it their mission to explore the world and investigate the critters living here with us.
That's why I love checking in to see what Brave Wilderness host Coyote Peterson has uncovered from the safety of my computer screen. Obviously, no one should go out in search of wildlife without either being an expert or having one nearby, something Peterson makes clear in all of his fascinating videos.
He's had some pretty unexpected encounters in the past, like the baby ocelot who learned the hard way that crabs fight back. Yet, the unusual find below is definitely a first for Peterson. You can see the shock written all over his face as his guide Aron Sanchez points him in the direction of a giant black slug roughly 2 feet in length.
Peterson was on the lookout for the particularly unique mollusk for nearly an hour before they finally spotted one in the tide pool located in California.
To show just how massive the dark, slimy, and completely harmless slug is, they also pick up a nearby brown sea slug for comparison. The big fella completely dwarfs his petite counterpart!
It's pretty mesmerizing to watch him handle the slippery guy as he slithers through his fingers and stretches out to his fullest capacity.
