There are lots of folks out there who dream of retreating to a perfect little house in the country, and escaping city life for good.
Still, it’s not always easy to give up on the many conveniences of big city living, from easy public transportation to dozens of restaurants just steps away. It’s hard to give up on the city entirely, especially if you work in an urban center.
But what if there were some way to get the best of both worlds; easy access to the city and beautiful, quiet country living, without resorting to complicated urban farming routines.
Well, as it turns out, there is a home that fits the bill exactly, located out in Tennessee horse country, but still technically within the city limits of Nashville!
This beautiful farm cottage is part of a larger estate in Forest Hills, a small city-within-a-city that falls inside Nashville’s borders.
Still, despite being part of an impressive urban enclave, this little cottage is surrounded by quiet horse pasture; it’s easy to believe that you’re miles away from town!

This itty-bitty jewel box of a farm house is located out in a quaint corner of Tennessee pasture land.
The property is part of an estate, and is an outbuilding to the larger main house.
From the robin's egg paint to the perfect front porch and cupola perched on top, this picturesque cottage is practically made for quiet morning readings and evenings cozying up under blankets on the porch.
In fact, that porch had us totally charmed from the moment we spotted it!
After all, what's a country home without a couple of rocking chairs, and a nice wide porch perfect for settling in and gazing out across the vista?
This porch is perfectly set up; the house might be small but the porch is perfectly sized for sitting, rocking, and sipping a mug of hot cocoa!
Inside, the house is just as beautiful as we imagined, as well as making a delightfully airy interior out of a relatively small space.
The ceiling is lofted up high under the peaked roof, and the living, dining, and kitchen areas are all combined into a single open-plan room.
Plus, the simple design hack of hardwood floors and all-white walls and ceilings make the room feel even bigger.
The kitchen runs along one wall in the main area.
Fully equipped with brand-new modern appliances and simple-but-lovely cabinetry, we imagine it's a dream for home cooks.
With a double oven and a farm sink, we imagine this place has everything you need for pulling together a multi-course feast for friends and family.
The master bedroom is situated in a corner on the ground floor, with plenty of privacy from the open-plan theme of the rest of the house.
It's perfect romantic nest for honeymooners, or quiet retreat for exhausted parents.
The details are simple, with the same all-white motif we saw outside, making it a great room for enjoying some peace and quiet.
Meanwhile, kids can enjoy their own awesome sleeping arrangements high above Mom and Dad.
There are two twin beds tucked up into the roof loft, with a window to let in light.
We bet kids of all ages love pretending that they're in their own personal treehouse in a space like this!
All together, the whole house comes together as a beautiful, cohesive whole that would be perfect for couples or small families trying to get away from the pace of city life, without sacrificing it's conveniences.
This house is currently available for mid-term leases (3 months or more) on Airbnb. You can check it out here!
