She’s The Last WWII Widow To Still Visit Her Fallen Husband’s Grave

Peggy and Billie Harris got married just six weeks before he was sent off to fight in World War II. And though he's been gone for over 70 years now, she remains true to the love of her life.

In the absence of any clear answer she has remained dutiful. "Billie was married to me all of his life, and I choose to be married to him all of my life." She calmly said. Billie was a fighter pilot who, seven decades ago, was reported missing in action over Nazi occupied France.

At first he was reported as missing, then he was reported as alive and coming home. Then she was told that he was actually dead and buried in one cemetery, then another. She never found out the fate of her husband. She assumed he was long dead, but according to her initial investigations he was in the National archives and was still listed as Missing In Action.

Billie's cousin grew up with this family mystery; so one day he finally decided to get to the bottom of it. With a bit of research they discovered that of all the places his body lay, it was in the most obvious place imaginable, Normandy's most famous cemetery.

Since Peggy learned where her one true love's body remains, she's been sending flowers as often as possible. As far as officials can tell, she's the very last widow who still comes to visit the grave.
