When you lose someone, even if you're the only one who knows it or feels it, it's like a tiny void is left on the Earth that can never be filled. It doesn't matter if that someone is human or a beagle poodle mix named Reyes. When Todd Burchanowaski got news that his beloved dog had terminal lymphoma, he knew what he had to do.
"It was the toughest day of my life," Todd told CBS' Jamie Yuccas. "I try to give her lot more hugs and kisses and treats these days." Todd decided to make her last days on Earth memorable. He's been taking Reyes on an 81-item bucket list fit for any dog or human. Reyes has now been through a drive-thru car wash, been swimming, eaten McDonald's french fries, watched a sunset, built a snowman, and visited Niagara Falls. There are still about 30 things on the list, but Todd is sure he will make them happen.
"We just wanted to do something special for her in her last days," he said. Most of us never know when we're going to lose our best friend. In a way, knowing how much time you have left with them is a blessing. Instead of getting swept up in the banalities of day-to-day life, you can truly savor every last minute with a friend…
