If you grew up having cold weather and snow storms around the holidays, it's hard to imagine spending this time of the year in a warm climate where none of that exists. Isn't is exciting to see the first snowfall of the season, as this puppy experienced for the first time?
But for three polar bears, this drastic change in scenery became reality when they were rescued and brought to live in San Diego.
Back in 2001, bear cubs Kalluk, Tatqiq, and Chinook were found wandering a city alone. When it was confirmed that their mama bears weren't anywhere in sight, they were brought to the San Diego Zoo, where they have been taken care of ever since. But the change in weather and lack of snow was surely something the bears had to get used to.
However, the three furry friends were in for a special treat. Thanks to donors who contributed to the zoo's animal-care wish list, Kalluk, Tatqiq, and Chinook got a surprise that never happens in their part of California: 26 tons of snow.
As you'll see below, they couldn't get enough of the winter wonderland that was gifted to them. Their polar bear instincts kicked in, and the three got busy with digging, sliding, and jumping in the snow — oh, and a little bit of wrestling here and there.
And as an added bonus, the animal-care staff hid vegetables and beef femur bones to give the bears extra nutrients as they got hyped up and motivated — as if they weren't already!
Watch this adorable video and witness a bunch of polar bears in their natural element, with a few slips and slides along the way.
And don't forget to SHARE with your friends and family if you support the zoo's efforts to make these bears as happy as can be!
