A woman compared the yolk of eggs from three different places, and the outcome will probably get the attention of any health-conscious individual.
Like the mom who tested the pH of various water bottles, the results here are also very different.
“When you get them straight from the farmer that they are free-range chickens and the yolk is a more of an orangey yellow,” the woman explains.
The second carton is from the market with a label that reads, “From pure grain fed chickens, no medication, free running.” And the third is from a Mennonite store.
After she pours all three eggs into a frying pan, it’s easy to tell the difference between each egg yolk — the free-range egg has a much more orangey yolk.
There's a big division in opinion over whether or not free-range chickens (ones that get to roam around outdoors) produce eggs with greater health benefits.
But, free-range farm eggs are certainly fresher since they are sold right after they are laid, the New York Times reports. Additionally, free-range chickens usually have a different diet (grass, weeds, and even bugs) leading to a firmer egg and the more pronounced color.
