For days, residents in a neighborhood in Pinch, WV, heard a dog constantly barking from an unknown location.
After going out to try to find where the noise was coming from, one resident discovered the terrifying truth: The pooch was stuck in a drain pipe.
As it turns out, the dog was 14-year-old Mater, a beagle mix who went missing from his home for almost a week. The Olson family started to think their little pooch might be gone for good.
Thankfully, the Pinch Volunteer Fire Department showed up to bring the dog to safety, much like the firefighters who saved a puppy stuck in a sewer drain in Buffalo. It wasn't an easy rescue since firefighters and utility workers had to break through concrete to get to the dog.
And the video below shows the moment Lieutenant Corey Carr from the Pinch Fire Department stuck his hand in the storm drain to get to the dog. Despite being stranded for days, Mater appeared to be in great condition once he came out.
"He was happy as could be," neighbor Shonnette Mosier told the Charleston Gazette-Mail. "He was wagging his tail and off down the road he went."
Watch below and please SHARE if you're glad Mater is back home and doing well!
