Eight Life Regrets You Don’t Want To Have One Day

We all have goals and dreams that we keep to ourselves.

After all, setting out to actually achieve a dream we’ve been hanging onto for a long time can be incredibly daunting, and it takes a lot of gumption to actually go out there and grab the brass ring.

But at the end of the day, taking risks is worth it, because it means you’ll never regret missing out on a certain dream or idea. Just look at this bikini-rocking 90-something

There are a few opportunities you want to seize when they’re right in front of you, even if it’s a bit scary, to make sure that you aren’t looking back on your life on your 100th birthday and thinking, “Wow, I wish I had done that when I had the chance.”

Carpe diem, and don’t be afraid to be amazing! You know what they say: you miss 100 percent of the shots you don’t take. Here are a few moments you should seize right now if you can. You won’t regret it!

Regret #1: I Didn't Travel When I Had A Chance

Nobody can go everywhere and see everything, but you definitely owe it to yourself to see a few of those stunning sights you've always dreamed of!

Young and footloose? Go backpacking on the cheap with a couple of friends.

Settled down with responsibilities? Save, save, save; your day to pack up and explore will come.

And even if you never make it across the ocean, explore the places you can drive to. In this amazing country, there's almost a guarantee that there's someplace remarkable nearby that you can get to for a weekend.

Regret #2: I Didn't Express My Feelings

We all know how it feels to develop a crush, but some crushes are just different from the rest; you can tell there might be something more to it.

It's a high-risk, high-reward situation; you know that if you act on your feelings, you might get shot down or you might find out that the feelings are mutual.

Too many people are scared away by risk, and don't realize until much later that any amount of embarrassment is worth a chance at true love.

Tell people how you feel. No matter how they respond, you won't regret it later.

Regret #3: I Didn't Take Care Of My Health

It can be a struggle to get your daily complement of exercise. After all, motivation to get up and get moving is hard to come by when you're tired, stressed, or busy.

But the truth of the matter? Getting a dose of exercise is probably the easiest short-term solution there is for feeling blue.

And in the long-term, getting regular exercise might give you more time with your loved ones and better quality of life as you age.

Regret #4: I Didn't Take Enough Risks

If you're being really, really honest with yourself, what's the one crazy thing you've always wanted to try, but are terrified to?

Whether it's jumping out of an airplane or just finally learning how to drive stick, you owe it to yourself to face your fears, embrace the adrenaline rush, and become the master of your own fate!

Regret #5: I Missed Out On Time With My Family

It's great to be ambitious and career-oriented, unless it comes at the expense of spending priceless moments with the ones you love.

Next time you skip family dinner to hit a deadline or forget to call your mom because you have other things on your mind, take a moment to consider your priorities.

Which memories and moments do you really want to have 20 years from now?

Regret #6: I Never Pursued My Dream Job

Kids have an incredible ability to dream big and really shoot for the stars, but a lot of us let those dreams fall away when we grow up and get slammed with all of the practical concerns of the real world.

Facing a job that's competitive and hard to achieve can seem frighteningly risky compared to a reliable 9 to 5, but you should never count yourself out!

Even if you don't become an astronaut or a fashion designer, you'll be proud that you tried.

Regret #7: I Stayed In An Unhappy Relationship

This is a major theme among end-of-life regrets.

People look back on their lives and realize the could have been much happier for years if they'd only left unhappy relationships.

People stay in loveless or painful relationship out of fear of loneliness or for the sake of their kids, but most people who have left say that being happy and alone is ultimately better for you, your partner, and your family.

Regret #8: I Was Too Afraid To Be My True Self

Don't hide your light under a bushel!

You're amazing, and it's your responsibility as a human to never apologize for that.

Wear what you want, say what you want, and be who you want to be. Anybody who doesn't like it isn't worth your time anyway. Don't be afraid to be fabulous!
