When an animal loses its mother, it's a heartbreaking moment. Sometimes the animal's mother passes away. Other times, like in the case of the kitten Ripley, their mother leaves them.
It's in these situations that animals need an intervention, either from a human who can understand the situation or another animal who instinctively knows what to do. If they're fast enough, the baby can be rescued and no harm will be done.
This little puppy lost his mother only a few days after he was born. Those first few weeks in a puppy's life are critical to its development. Luckily for the pup, this family took him in and they happened to have a perfect solution. They had a cat who had recently had kittens!
They introduced the two animals and the cat accepted the puppy as part of her litter. She even let the little guy breastfeed from her and now he seems to be doing just great! Cats make great foster parents, just look at this cat who adopted a little squirrel and taught it how to purr.
