Son Receives A Postcard From His Dad Two Years After His Death

The only thing Navy veteran Joseph ever wanted was to be the father to a son. So when he and his wife Julie welcomed their son Rowan into their lives, it was a dream come true. Joseph was a family man to the core. He devoted everything to giving them the best life. For him, this meant spending time away from home to earn two master's degrees at MIT. While on the road, Joseph would write Rowan letters and send him postcards. He did this up until he died, at age 41, of a neurodegenerative disorder called Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease.

Rowan, understandably had a difficult time handling the loss of his dad and best friend. Then, a few days before the two year anniversary of his father's passing, something incredible happened. Julie opened a mailbox and found a postcard from Joseph. It was postmarked June 10, 2007 — years before he had even passed.

"Hello from Pennsylvania. I love you, and I miss you so much. See you soon. Love, Daddy," the letter read.

Somehow, through some luck, it made its way to Rowan eight years later. Julie believes it's nothing short of Joseph saying his one last goodbye.

"I feel like that was the final goodbye that he didn't get to say," Julie said.
