For those people who have autism, communication can be a very big struggle.
Some do not express themselves by using words, but instead through art, like Trent who created beautiful trampoline art. Others try to find ways to convey their emotions and thoughts in a manner that is most comfortable for them.
Mychal's Learning Place helps children and adults with disabilities learn how to be independent. Jordan has been at Mychal's for about eight to 10 years, but it wasn't until she started volunteering with Adopt & Shop that she found her calling. For the most part, Jordan is nonverbal, but when she is at Adopt & Shop, she opens up.
Jordan has a special place in her heart for black cats. You can see in the video below that her verbal interaction with other humans is limited, but as soon as she sees a cat, she can't help but start talking to the kitties. With the help of these black cats and kittens, Jordan has finally been able to find her voice!
