Kentucky Driver Spots Cop In Roadside Prayer

We all have enough experience by now to know that life isn’t always easy, or even easy all that often.

Still, we here at LittleThings like to look at the world from a “glass half full” perspective.

Yes, we all face challenges and hardships every day, but those challenges only make the beautiful things, from happy weddings to the rescue of this tiny baby marsupial, that much more precious.

That’s why we have a special place in our hearts for the wonderful everyday heroes who go through life making silver linings out of storm clouds.

These are people who reach across vast divides to make the world a better, brighter place for others.

Most recently, we saw this in action when a passing motorist caught a Kentucky cop pulled over to the side of the road, conducting himself in a way that should make each and every one of us proud to be a human being.

Last week, a man named Kendall Wills took to Facebook to post a snapshot of a beautiful scene that he stumbled on while driving down the highway in Georgetown, KY.

He starts his post by noting, "I saw this today on my way home from work and it melted my heart so I had to share. Two men were standing by the side of the road."

One was in uniform, one was not, but both men had their heads bowed in prayer.

Wills goes on to explain the touching scene and his own perceptions further.

He writes: "I don't know the whole story but while at a stop light, I noticed a police officer pulled over on the side of the exit ramp in Georgetown and saw that he was talking to this gentleman. I saw a cardboard sign and a bag lying on the ground by his feet."

He continues: "As most people do, I sat at the light and watched what was going on. Both men appeared to be speaking calmly when I noticed the man on the left nod his head. The officer then grabbed the man's hand in both of his hands and they both bowed their heads. They stood this way for about 30 seconds. I don't know what was said but they appeared to be praying."

The officer in question was a man named Brandon White, a young officer with the Georgetown PD, pictured above right.

Wills continued to observe the scene while he sat in traffic.

In his post, he adds: "Afterward they spoke a few more words and the officer returned to his car. The man picked his sign up off the ground and the officer drove away. I never saw anything that I thought was an argument or altercation of any sort. It was just two men having mutual respect for one another."

Finally, Wills concludes his post with a beautiful sentiment that I think we can all respect.

He writes, "This has nothing to do with politics and everything to do with being a good human. Love your neighbor. Be kind to one another."

There can be no doubt that both men are bringing good to the world, simply by reaching out and sharing that brief moment of connection.

Meanwhile, Georgetown PD has expressed pride in their officer by sharing the picture with the community.

Modest Officer White, meanwhile, hasn't commented further on what brought him to the roadside that day.

That's not too surprising if you ask us; he seems like the sort of guy who does good deeds without looking for any recognition.
