The Craftsman Mini-Me is a tiny vacation home located in Venice, CA. The small space is conveniently located less than two miles from the beach and is within walking distance of restaurants and shopping. The one-bedroom, 400-square-foot space has enough room to accommodate up to two guests.
In a space this small, you have to get creative. The couch in the living area was actually made out of an old prison bed, mounted to the wall and turned into a couch!
The backyard home is a miniature version of its larger craftsman front home, surrounded by greenery. The home almost seems one with nature as it features walls of windows that open up to the beautiful outdoors.
The small size of the space doesn't mean there are any less comfortable amenities. The sitting room opens up into a bedroom that includes a queen-size bed with 400-count sheets and a down duvet.
Every inch of the space is utilized. The bedroom includes plenty of additional closet and drawer space.
The custom-built kitchen is nestled between the seating area and the bedroom. It has butcher block countertops and is equipped with a Viking cook top, a small fridge, a microwave, a French coffee press, and all the cookware you could need for a delicious meal.
It's truly impressive how many amenities can fit into such a small space. The kitchen extends out with another butcher block countertop that doubles as a kitchen table and seating area for eating.
Guests who have stayed in this tiny California home have had nothing but nice things to say. One guest described their vacation as beautiful and serene, with a little dose of magic.
One area of the home that is truly magical is the washroom. The toilet itself is inside, but a few steps away is an enclosed outside shower that is described as "absolute heaven" by the owners. It's engulfed in trumpet vines and creeping figs, giving its user the illusion of taking a shower in the rain.
This home's connection to the outdoors is what gives it the ethereal, cottage-like atmosphere that guests love.
Walls made of glass open up into the outdoors all over the house, allowing guests to soak in the beautiful California sunshine. Imagine pouring a glass of California wine and lounging outside in this quiet Venice neighborhood.
What this home lacks in space, it makes up for in charm and character. Every inch of the space features beautiful, unique details that add to the visitor's experience.
