One day Emily was taking a shower when she felt a sharp pain. The mother could barely stand and began to scream out. Her oldest son knocked on the door as her youngest son cried for his mommy. She told her children to wait in another room. Emily grabbed her phone and quickly called her mother. Emily was certain her appendix was about to burst, but she couldn't even stand long enough to get out of the tub. Once grandma arrived, she picked her daughter up. Emily pointed to her appendix when asked where the pain was. She put on sweatpants, but was in too much pain to put on a shirt.
She and her mother drove to the nearest hospital — 15 miles away. Emily cried and screamed the entire trip. They pulled up to the hospital and her mother ran to get a nurse. Still in the car, Emily felt a burst and something roll down her leg. She knew her appendix had burst. Then she felt something move. That's when grandma looked down.
"She just had this stunned look on her face," Emily remembers. "She pulled back the towel. I looked down and there was a baby in my sweatpants."
The new mother had no idea she was pregnant. Thankfully, mother and child are happy and healthy now. And the little one will always have this bizarre birth story they can tell friends about!
