Woman Forges Doctor’s Note To Get Boyfriend Out Of Jail. Seconds Later, She’s In Handcuffs…

Rogers County Sheriff Scott Walton can't help but sigh at small-time criminal Kay Abney. She has been a pain in the butt of the Oklahoma jail, but now she'll be behind bars.

Abney has been pestering the sheriff's department about her jailed boyfriend, Patrick LaBranche. The man is charged with driving without a license and drug trafficking. Walton said the couple is a "parasite to the community," and LaBranche has been jailed several times before.

In a scheme to get LaBranche out of jail, Abney insisted that the man was not receiving "adequate" healthcare in the facility. After months, she finally brought in a doctor's note. The only trouble was it was completely fake.

Walton called the doctor listed in the fake note who immediately confirmed that not only had he not written the letter but LaBranche had never been his patient.

"This letter […] is a forged instrument and did not come from my office," said the doctor.

Now the sheriff is having the last laugh. The document she used to try and free her boyfriend is now the best evidence in a case against her. I can't help but think of the runaway teen who commented on her on "wanted" photo.

“She went to great pains to document the fact that she committed a crime," Walton said.

Abney was charged with forgery and conspiracy to commit a felony.
