It was an ordinary day at a South Carolina beach, then all of a sudden something extraordinary happened. It was a spectacle and I sure am glad it was captured on camera, otherwise I wouldn't have known this existed.
The unusual occurrence is a "fire rainbow" or "iridescent clouds." However, some are regarding the unique formation as an angel.
This isn't the first time strange clouds have been perceived as something else. This summer when lenticular clouds appeared above Texas, many believed they were UFOs disguised as clouds.
Tracy Smith told KCTV5 she believes it was her recently deceased friend dropping by. "I'm sure she came to visit us on the beach we all love! We miss you Leslie!" she captioned one of her photos.
Smith said the beautiful "visitor" was only there for about an hour before quickly disappearing.

"To produce the rainbow colors the sun’s rays must enter the ice crystals at a precise angle to give the prism effect of the color spectrum," said meteorologist Justin Lock.
The sun must be at an altitude of at least 58 degrees above the horizon and perfectly angled in such a way that the "fire rainbow" can occur.
No matter the explanation, this is the kind of thing you see once in a lifetime, if ever!
