Being a waitress, the tips you get can frequently infuriate you.
Some people don't realize the small amount that waiters and waitresses get paid in exchange for keeping their tips.
When I was in high school I made $15 no matter how long I worked, because they knew that I would make a decent amount in tips. But those people who gypped me still hurt my wallet!
But, those people just reminded me to be thankful and excited for all of the good tips I got. And I did get them because I worked at a great restaurant, with some great customers.
I guess all it really depends on is the customers. Good people give good tips, right?
Becky Nielson was one of those waitresses who got a great customer. As she was waitressing at a diner in New York, one of her regular customers decided to leave an extraordinary tip with a valuable note attached too.
After this customer lost her friend, she grieved as she ate her meal. But she didn't take her heartbreak out on the people around her. Instead, she decided to reflect on the loss of her friend in a positive light.
The note left on the bill read: "Life is short, a friend of mine died last night. Please enjoy a night with someone you love!"
And that tip along with it will let her enjoy a night out, that's for sure.
