Dying Mom Sobs When Water Boy Son Rushes On The Football Field To Score A Touchdown

When you're in high school, it always seems that everyone looks up to the athletes, especially the football players who are cheered on by hundreds of fans.

But at Novi High School in Michigan, the football players look up to their water boy, a young man named Robby Heil. Robby, who has Down syndrome, has an infectious positive spirit. In fact, everyone in school seems to know him and adore him!

His spirit remains unbroken despite the his mother's grim diagnosis: Bone cancer has made her terminally ill.

Football coach Jeff Burnside wanted to give Robby the chance to shine, especially in front of his mom. So he gave him a uniform and a helmet, and put him on the field. In the second quarter of the game, his teammates handed him the ball, and he ran 20 yards to score a touchdown. His proud mom was watching in the stands with tears in her eyes.

Even the opposing team seemed to be in on the plan: They let him run all the way, and even gave him a signed No. 1 jersey at the end of the game.

Now, the young man's inspiring moment is going viral. Though the coach did not intend for the gesture to be known by thousands of people, he is proud that he could make a difference in the Heil family's life.
