This New Hair Technique Has People Everywhere Stunned!

During a massive hair conference called Front Row in Miami, hair stylist Nicci Welsh did something that left audiences in awe. It was so simple, but most had never seen the new — yet, so simple — technique. All you need for this is a regular ole run-of-the-mill flatiron, a brush, and a hair clip. If heat isn't your thing, try these heatless finger curls.

"I don't know if it's been done before — it must have — but the reaction from 90 percent of the people I show it to is: 'I've never seen that,'" Nicci told Refinery29's Cat Quinn. "I made it up because in Denmark we want this minimalistic beach look." Nicci calls the technique "S Waves" or "Scandi Waves."

All you do is divide the hair into sections. Next, take one to two inches of hair and bend into an S shape, going from top to bottom. Tap the S with the flatiron. Then continue to alternate directions, adding heat, as you go down the section of hair. The method is ridiculously simple, but the end result creates luxurious, deep beach curls. Nicci says she created the process for when she wanted to look polished but didn't have a ton of time to do her hair.
