Tiny Chipmunk Attempts To Hide Entire Peanut In Its Mouth And Fails Adorably

Let’s face it: As humans, we have a general fondness for chipmunks that we don’t typically reserve for other backyard rodents like squirrels (even though squirrels have provided us with some pretty entertaining moments, like this dumpster-diving furry fellow).

But chipmunks have had their fair share of moments that make us melt, like this adorable, chubby-cheeked little guy.

In fact, I didn’t fully realize just how small they are until now, when I watched this chipmunk attempt to fit an entire shelled peanut in his mouth.

And we’re amazed he even approached this guy at all! For a such a tiny animal, isn’t he quite brave?

Watch as he tries to conceal the peanut in his tiny cheeks. He fails, but probably in the most adorable way possible. For a moment, it even looks like he’ll dare to attempt to fit in a second peanut that the man recording this footage so kindly shelled for him. But, knowing he wouldn’t be able to, he ultimately scampers off with his cheeks full.

We wish this little cutie all the luck! Here’s hoping he already started stocking up for winter — with such small pouches, he’ll have a lot of trips to make!
