When taking care of wild animals, whether they're rescues or living in captivity in order to save them from a harmful environment, you always have to take extra precaution that you're keeping them healthy. Of course, the most ideal situation is for an animal to be free to roam in a natural habitat, but sometimes that simply isn't possible. We've seen it time and time again: an animal is rescued from captivity and would never be able to survive on its own. Or, on the other hand, babies are raised in captivity in order for biologists to conduct humane research on the animal in order to protect the species as a whole.
At Phuket Marine Biological Center in Thailand, researchers are hard at work keeping track of the reefs and other aquatic life to make sure that it's still there years from now. While they conduct a large amount of their research out in the wild, they also have facilities on site to gather more controlled information.
This little turtle on site gets the royal treatment! Twice a month, this little baby and all of his brothers and sisters get a sponge bath to make sure that they're 100 percent healthy. By the looks of it, this little one really does enjoy this mini massage. Just look at his little face, and the way he spreads out his tiny flippers!
