This Tiny Therapy Dog Has Struggled With Her Disability For Years… Now? A Miracle!

Dr. Scott Sims is a veterinarian living on the island of Kauaʻi, HI whose practice caters to some very special patients.

On a recent sunny day, he was paid a visit from an adorable little one in need of his expertise. Her name is Babe, an apt moniker given her petite stature. Seven-year-old Babe is a Chihuahua who was born without her two front legs, but has miraculously managed to learn to walk as a biped. She hops when she’s in a hurry, and her human dad carries her around otherwise. But mobility is a precious gift that her owner, Warren, had been hoping would ease her struggling.

While Babe can move on her two back legs just fine, it’s not a long-term solution for her little body. As she gets older, supporting the full weight of her body on two tiny legs is going to give her back problems and arthritis. She visits hospitals and elementary schools doing volunteer work, says Warren, and he can see she wants to be more mobile.

His solution? A custom fiberglass prosthetic that they created especially for Babe’s body. Soon, Babe will be fitted with special wheels that will help her walk. We wish her a speedy recovery and a long, healthy life to come!
