There is more to a police officer’s job than just arresting "bad guys."
To be a good cop, you have to be a smart cop, and that includes thinking outside of the box — like this police officer who had to choose the right words to coax a suicidal 12-year-old of the ledge of a bridge.

Last week, an officer on the San Francisco Police Department pulled over a suspect driving what was believed to be a stolen white Toyota Highlander. When a shirtless and shoeless man dashed from a stolen car, hotly pursued by the police, he ran to the top of a three-story building.
Distressed, he then dangled from a window and threatened to take his own life.
For three hours, the determined cops negotiated with the man — but without any success.
That's when a family member showed up with the man’s orange cat — inspiring the quick-thinking cops to come up with a brilliant plan. “Never underestimate the power of an owner’s love for their pet,” tweeted the department’s spokesman Grace Gatpandan along with this image.
The cops used the cat to coax the criminal down to safety. As soon as the crook saw his cat, he surrendered.
“I don’t remember ever using a cat before, but it worked,” Esparza said. “The guy voluntarily came out of the window and opened the door and was taken into custody without incident.”
