Imagine coming off your flight to discover that your pooch, who was supposed to be on the plane with you, didn't make it to the destination. Instead, the dog was sent to another location.
Sounds terrifying for any pet owner, but that's exactly what happened to one dog who was supposed to land in Mississippi from Texas. Instead, she was taken thousands of miles away to Hawaii.
As most dog owners would do for a lost pet, this one posted a plea on Facebook hoping someone would find his dog, a corgi named Bethany. Thankfully, the airline did find the dog and she was put in the care of a veterinarian until she'd fly to Mississippi to be with her owner.
"There's nothing usually dangerous about flying with your pet," veterinary technician Lillian Eyer told CBS Dallas-Fort Worth. “I’ve traveled with pets quite a bit and quite extensively. I’ve never ran into any problems.”
And while it's not common for dogs to get lost on a flight, the incident has left some other pet owners in fear.
"So worried about what would happen, what could happen. I know that people would be trying to do the best they could, but the poor little dog would be just so scared," Julie Kubasek said.
