Woman Sees Elk Tangled In Tire Swing Out Her Window, So She Spends 12 Hours Freeing It

Debera Butler could not believe it. She looked out her window and there the poor guy was: an elk stuck in a tire swing and a log. The elk moaned and groaned as he tried to free himself. The log dangled from his antlers and hit him in the face. The guy was a mess, but wandered into the perfect backyard.

You see, Butler happens to be a veterinarian. Although she had never worked with an animal this big, especially not a wild elk, the vet from Pine, AZ, knew she had to step up to the plate.

"I literally had to take a double take because I thought I am not seeing what I think I'm seeing," Debera Butler said. "And literally this poor guy had a tire swing all hung, tangled into his antlers."

Butler grabbed some tools from her home and got to work. She placed corn on a tree stump to the distract the distressed animal. As he ate, Butler clipped away at the tire and log.

The elk let her get a little work done then backed away in fear. Butler didn't give up, she talked the wild animal down and kept him calm.

After some time, he took a nap and Butler was able to get the most work done. However, it wasn't a quick job by any means. Freeing the elk took a whopping 12 hours.

"He was free. It was amazing. He ate a couple of bites of corn, then he said, 'See ya!'" Butler said.
