Scary Hidden Fall Dangers That Could Be Threatening Your Dog’s Safety

When it comes to taking care of the beautiful animals in our lives, most of us have a pretty good handle on pet safety.

After all, the basics of pet safety are pretty intuitive: make sure he has a good diet, take him to the vet regularly, and be aware of the hazardous stuff that he can get into just running around, like these vicious and lethal hitchhiker seeds.

Still, there every season brings brand-new dangers for pet-owners to be aware of.

As the weather cools off this autumn, it’s a good time for us all to refresh our memories on the potential hazards that fall weather can have for pooches.

That’s not to say we can’t have just as much fun with our dogs as ever, it’s just a good idea to be aware of a few danger that surface in autumn.

For example, wild animals that are less friendly than Fido — think coyotes and snakes — are preparing for hibernation and are likely to be extra temperamental and territorial.

Mothballs, antifreeze, and other lethal chemicals come out of storage, and can attract curious dogs, especially since antifreeze in particular is sweet to the taste.

We also lose daylight, which means that our canine companions might be at higher risk during evening walks, and need to be kitted out in reflective gear during after-dark excursions.

And these are just a few of the important seasonal changes to keep in mind as we head towards the coldest months of the year!
