Do you remember when you were little, and you could just sense that you were about to be in big trouble with Mom or Dad?
The first instinct is to flee the scene, and to avoid the punishment for as long as humanly possible. Sure, the things you do to get in trouble can be fun, like coloring on the wall, getting covered in mud outside after a rainstorm and tracking it all through the house. But the consequence?
First there's the actual punishment, like a time-out, or some extra chores around the house. But second comes the guilt, and the weight on your conscience.
We see this guilt in our pups all the time. Dogs always want to make their people happy, but they also have similar childish urges to human children. This often lands them into sticky situations.
When this big Great Dane named Seven was relaxing on the couch and his human walked in, you can tell he already knows that he's in trouble.
Then, when she starts talking in that tone of voice, the one that immediately says, "I know what you've done," this pup does something so sweet that it almost makes his small crime excusable.
This pup knows what he did, and he knows it was wrong. He also knows to get out of there as fast as he can!
