As much as we love our pets, there are times when they prove they just aren't the brightest bulbs when it comes to their sense of adventure.
Dogs seem particularly inclined to run off when something grabs their attention, whether it's across the room or wriggling out beyond their fences. I know my family dog would take every opportunity to stretch his legs all over our neighborhood. As frustrating as it always was, it didn't compare to the happy relief we'd feel when he sauntered back down our driveway.
They simply don't seem understand how much their antics cause us to worry — something the woman in the clip below can attest to when her silly Jack Russell terrier decided to chase a rabbit with some unfortunate results.
Fiona Withers contacted the fire department as soon as she saw her pooch, Lilly, had managed to get herself stuck deep inside an underground pipe. Luckily, they were able to free her after cutting away at the pipe and coaxing her with calm assurance.
It's bittersweet to watch Withers leaning over the muddy hole in the ground to comfort her buddy with some sweet pets. I can imagine just how anxious both the human and canine were throughout the whole terrifying ordeal.
That's why it's so amazing to know there are always those who are able to help us in times of crises.
Take a look to see the moment Lilly is finally extracted.
