We probably needn't remind you that dogs are capable of some pretty remarkable tasks. But watching the dog below excel at shuffle cup is nothing short of mesmerizing.
"Bold, independent and headstrong, the shiba is brimming with self-confidence," writes Animal Planet. And that would certainly characterize the dog in the below video, a playfully arrogant albeit highly intelligent Shiba Inu named Koharu. Placing a reward beneath one of three planters, an offscreen owner asks Koharu to locate the treat. Take note that this shuffle challenge is difficult even for people, and Koharu isn't successful during the first few attempts while the cups are being shuffled quickly. However Koharu does remember which was the position of the treat cup to begin with. By 1:18, they use a slower shuffle and the dog is excellent at locating the treats. It's quite impressive.
Koharu is giving our other favorite shiba a run for his money. Internet superstar Bodhi garnered fame for adorning dapper menswear — a meme that's still in circulation and landed him a book deal. Nowadays, Bodhi and his owners are utilizing his fame as a tool to raise money for a number of animal welfare charities.
So whether its a sartorially minded shiba or one who's very good at games, I'll take a shiba video any day.
