Abused Greyhound Puppy Receives A Bionic Leg And A Loving Forever Home

Animals are amazing because they can overcome obstacles, injuries, and abuse to become completely happy once again.

Pets have proven that, as long as they have a human who loves them, they can survive almost any sickness or injury.

Even dogs who have lost limbs survive through the strife if they have someone by their side, like this golden with a prosthetic paw.

This was the case for the amazing greyhound Millie who had to overcome a truly difficult time as a puppy.

Bred to be a racing greyhound, Millie ultimately injured her paw and had it cruelly amputated by a previous owner.

But with the help of her adoptive mom, Millie is now a healthy, beautiful bionic dog who loves to run around and play.

Her prosthetic paw isn't stopping her from being energetic and elated about life, proving further that dogs are amazing at adapting.

Nora Anderson-Dieppe was on her way to adopt a little greyhound named Millie, who was bred for racing but had injured her leg.

But when she arrived at the breeder's, she noticed something horrifying: Millie's paw had not only been injured, it had been completely amputated!

Anderson-Dieppe rushed the poor puppy to the veterinary hospital.

Left without any pain medication or explanation for the injury, Millie cried and yelped out in pain on their way to the hospital.

Millie had her wound treated and spent weeks undergoing physical and psychological therapy.

But after her leg had healed, she was fitted for a fancy prosthetic paw made by Canadian K-9 Orthotics and Prosthetics.

Today, Millie is as happy and energetic as any other dog with four legs.

She loves splashing around at the beach and definitely has sprinting embedded in her little doggy genes.

Though Millie is now safe and happy, Anderson-Dieppe still hopes to be able to save her siblings, some of which are busy in the racing rings.

"I remember looking at each one of them individually and apologizing to them silently for not being able to take them, too." she recalls to the Dodo.

She has managed to save Millie's sister, Sav, and find her a happy foster home.

She also hoped to save her brother Jack, though she later learned that he had been sold to race oversees in Macau.

Being particularly tough on its greyhounds, Macau's only legal greyhound racing stadium, The Canidrome, is known for euthanizing dogs that don't win enough races.

So, Anderson-Dieppe has been campaigning to end The Canidrome's cruel practices and started a Facebook group titled Bring Jack Home.

She and Millie are also fixtures as anti-racing demonstrations in Sydney, where she serves as a cautionary example of the potential cruelty of racers and breeders.

Though they're both still fighting for her siblings' justice, Anderson-Dieppe and Millie have proved that even animals who began life with a lot of adversity can recover and have a happy future.
