I think I speak for everyone when I say, what wouldn't a person do for their pup?
Our pets are part of our families. And as their humans, it's our responsibility to not only keep them as happy and healthy as possible — like this blogger who built her cat a luxurious DIY pet bed — but to honor them and show them respect as well.
And when I learned how the Dobbie family was honoring their dog during his last days, my heart was truly touched.
After Tigger, the beloved family pup of the Dobbie sisters in Adelaide, Australia, became sick, the girls knew they had to find the perfect way to honor and memorialize their cherished relationship. They couldn't believe it was time to say goodbye, and the sisters wanted to somehow capture the amazing love they shared. What they did next may just inspire you to give your dog an extra hug or two tonight.

The Dobbie family had spent 16 incredible years with their Jack Russell terrier, Tigger, building a lifetime of cherished memories together.
So when they discovered that Tigger was sick, they knew they had to do something extraordinary to honor his spirit.
“My sisters and I were gathered around sharing our memories and photos of Tigger when he was a pup while we were waiting for the vet to come to our house to put him to rest,” Louise Dobbie shared with Good Morning America via email. “We came across this photo, which we probably haven't seen in a good seven-plus years, and my sister, Samantha, suggested we re-create the photo."
The sisters agreed this was the perfect idea!
“Immediately we were rummaging through clothes trying to find the right attire to do so,” Louise continued to Good Morning America. “It was definitely a happy and jovial event and we knew the sentimental value the photo would serve for us before it was even completed.”
Louise told LittleThings, “Tigger was 16; this photo was taken about an hour before we put him to rest — it was taken in our backyard, the same backyard Tigger lived in all his life.”
Now that the sisters were grown, enjoying the original photo was a wonderful 15-year walk down memory lane.
Most importantly, the family wanted to capture the fun-loving and goofy spirit of Tigger.
“Our mum was trying to get a nice family photo of us with him,” Louise told Good Morning America. “We actually have another photo taken minutes apart of us standing nicely and smiling happily, but we thought the silly one was a better interpretation of Tigger’s life with us, and better showed the happiness he brought to our lives and us.”
“He loved people and it’s very ironic that the story of Tigger has now touched the hearts of people he never even met,” Louise shared. “My family and I believe this is his way of saying that he’s okay and for us to smile at his memory.”
The sisters posted the two images on Imgur and their post has since gone viral, reaching over 1.6 million people in the past few days.
"He loved people and I can't believe the traction this post has got. It's ironic he is still touching the hearts of people he never knew. It's a wonderful tribute and heartwarming to our family," Louise told LittleThings.
The Dobbie family's loving memorial for their pup, Tigger, is a shining example of the incredible (and everlasting) bond between pet-owners and their fur-babies.
