This past weekend saw as much as 30 inches of snow dumped all over the East Coast of the U.S., with major cities being suddenly inundated with blizzard conditions. It was pretty exciting!
The interesting thing about snow is that it affects everyone. No matter who you are, you're going to have to adjust. You won't be able to drive, and you'll have to climb over drifts and mountains of snow. And of course you'll have to bundle up!
That might sound obvious, but it means that no matter who you are and what you have, nature is still bigger than you are and it will affect you.
But that doesn't mean you can't have fun! While the snow impedes a lot, it's also a great excuse to take a break from the real world, do a little frolicking, and see the magical beauty of a snow-covered landscape.
And it's not just humans who enjoy their snow days, either! Plenty of other animals love a good day in the snow, like these two horses who love the snow so much they roll around in it!
Check out what people up and down the East Coast did to celebrate — or make the best of — the weekend snowstorm. And tell us about your snow experience!
East Coast cities like New York And Washington, D.C., got hit with over two feet of snow, blanketing them in white. Here's an aerial shot of New York's Central Park as winter wonderland.
Since the snow was so severe, there were no cars on the roads, which gave many people the unique perspective from the middle of the street! It was a little post-apocalyptic, but also magical.
As with any sudden change, everyone had to suddenly get used to navigating mountains of snow! Of course, it helps when you're a husky.
And you suddenly see your familiar world in a completely new way!
And you'll probably find yourself navigating tiny pathways to get from place to place.
It can be a little daunting, especially if you're small.
But plenty of folks still managed to find a little sun, even in all that snow.
But it's usually best to appreciate the snow, just in case you get stuck!
And naturally, a snow day means time for all the classic snow activities, like sledding.
Sledding for everyone!
It's a simple activity, but it's so much fun!
Sleds are also a pretty practical way to get around.
And of course, snow sculpture abounded. These friendly little neighbors are enjoying the weather!
Others opted for something a little less traditional, like this snow dolphin!
And if you're into yoga, you're not going to let a little snow stop you. In fact, it makes headstands a lot easier!
Others, though, simply opted for a walk through the snow.
And still others took joy in the little things, like these beautiful snowflakes on a windshield.
Of course, plenty of people had to work even through the weather, like this guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Washington, D.C.
A snowfall can really turn an everyday place into a magical one, and help us see things a little differently so we can appreciate what we might otherwise take for granted.
And it's a perfect excuse for a little adventure and exploration!
